Why go

Vasuki Tal is a high glacial lake ringed by peaks, a demanding day beyond Kedarnath. The trail climbs through alpine meadows to still, cold water at over four thousand metres.

It is quiet, remote and spectacular — a reward for fit, acclimatised trekkers who already have Kedarnath behind them.

The trek

1
Reach Kedarnath first

Trek 16 km from Gaurikund and stay the night to acclimatise.

2
Kedarnath → Vasuki Tal

6 km of steep, high-altitude trail, about 4–5 hours; a guide is recommended.

3
Go prepared

Attempt only after a night at Kedarnath, and turn back if the weather closes in.
